The flagship of the Ukrainian scientific fleet arrived at its first destination – the Polish Antarctic station “Artztowski”.
Yesterday, December 29, 2024, the icebreaker “Noosfera” arrived at its first destination – the Polish Antarctic station “Artztowski”, the National Antarctic Research Center reports.
The Polish station is located on King George Island.
The vessel will be unloaded for the next few days (depending on weather conditions).
“So, most likely, the “Noosfera” team and the participants of the seasonal Ukrainian expedition will celebrate the New Year near King George. Then the road to our station “Akademik Vernadsky” will await them,” the scientific center said.
As previously reported by USM, on December 12, “Noosfera” set off for the fourth Antarctic season. This season is the most international of all the previous ones. It plans collaborations with the USA and Spain, joint research with the Czech Republic, and the implementation of two EU Horizon Europe projects.
