UZ launches regular freight trains to the port of Duisburg

This summer, Ukrzaliznytsia and Duisburger Hafen Aktiengesellschaft plan to launch regular container and trailer trains between Ukraine and the port of Duisburg.

The companies signed the corresponding memorandum, Ukrzaliznytsia said in a statement.

The first train on the route of the terminal branch of “CTS Lisky” – the port of Duisburg will leave this summer.

“All cargo transported by rail or road transport will be accepted for transportation. Choosing a new service, the client will be able to clearly predict the final cost of transportation and delivery times, because the train will go without queues at the border. Also, a significant advantage of the railway is a much smaller impact on environmental pollution,” the UZ said.

Thus, in cooperation with the world’s largest river port, JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” will be able to organize a new door-to-door service for Ukrainian and European customers.

From the port of Duisburg, cargoes go to other countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Note.

The port of Duisburg is located near the confluence of the Ruhr and Rhine rivers, approximately 190 km from the North Sea. It is the largest inland river port not only in Europe, but also in the world. The port has eight container terminals.
