Following Poland and Hungary, Bulgaria may ban the import of Ukrainian grain
Bulgaria’s Minister of Agriculture Yavir Gechov said that the Bulgarian government is discussing the introduction of a ban on the import of Ukrainian grain.
“It is necessary to protect Bulgarian interests, especially since two other states have already introduced such a restriction, there is a serious risk of accumulating large quantities in our country, if we do not take appropriate measures,” BNR News quoted the minister as saying.
Hechov added that the ban had already been discussed with the ministers of agriculture of six European countries. At the same time, Bulgaria asked Brussels about the problem back in September of last year.
On April 18, consultations on the issue will be held with the country’s president, Rumen Radev.
USM previously reported that Hungary and Poland banned the import of Ukrainian agricultural products until June 30 . The ban applies to products of both plant and animal origin.
