Ukrainian farmers need restoration of the “grain corridor”

Ukrainian agribusiness hopes to restore the “grain corridor” for grain export.

“Grain Corridor” for Ukraine is a way out of the difficult situation in the agricultural sector. Farmers are currently harvesting and hope to sell it as soon as possible due to preparation for the new sowing campaign, said Ivan Chaikivskyi, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Agrarian Policy

“The best and, in fact, the fastest way out of a difficult situation is the “grain corridor” through our Black Sea ports. But today it’s all blocked,” Tchaikivsky stressed.

Currently, Ukrainian farmers are hoping for the restoration of the Black Sea Initiative through the mediation of Turkey. At the same time, agribusiness does not stop work and is looking for new ways to export grain.

In particular, Romania is working on finding new ways to transport Ukrainian grain after Russia’s withdrawal from the Grain Agreement.

Also, Lithuania and Poland are discussing the possibility of transferring the inspection of Ukrainian agricultural cargo to the ports of the Baltic Sea in order to improve Ukrainian exports.

USM recently wrote that due to the termination of the Grain Agreement, Ukraine may lose $2 billion in income.
