The European Commission will finance the modernization of Romanian ports
The European Commission has approved a 126 million euro aid program for Romania to support ports that have faced an increase in cargo since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The press service of the European Commission informed about the program. According to the program, assistance will be provided in the form of grants of up to 10 million euros to logistics companies operating in Romanian ports.
“This measure should facilitate Ukraine’s trade within the framework of the EU Action Plan “Solidarity Lanes” the European Commission said.
The program will be valid until December 31, 2024. Romania has told the European Commission that it will support companies in Romanian ports to invest in additional logistics capacity to process goods diverted from their normal trade routes due to Russia’s war against Ukraine.
It is noted that in this way Romania will be able to reduce the “bottlenecks” that arose due to the sudden increase in the number of goods arriving at the ports of the Danube and Black Sea coasts.
