Freight rates for the transportation of grain from Ukrainian ports have decreased
The biggest decrease in rates was observed in the “panamax” segment from the ports of Great Odesa.
Freight rates for the transportation of grain from the Danube and deep-sea ports of Ukraine have decreased. This was reported in UGA with reference to Atria Brokers.
So, as of February 29, the rates for the transportation of 6,000 tons of corn by “coasters” in the main directions were as follows:
• from the Danube ports in the direction of Spain, the rates decreased by 3 USD/t — to 43-45 USD/t;
• to the Eastern Mediterranean: by 1-2 USD/t — up to 35-37 USD/t;
• to the east coast of Italy and the east coast of Greece: by 1 USD/t — up to 40-42 USD/t and 30-32 USD/t, respectively;
• the rates to Marmara remained unchanged — 27-28 USD/t, Israel — 41-42 USD/t and Seville — 48-50 USD/t.
At the same time, the freight rates of “handy sizes” from the ports of Great Odesa to the Mediterranean coast of Egypt decreased by 2 USD/t — to 30-32 USD/t, to Italy — by 1 USD/t to 32-33 USD/t.
Maximum rates to Spain decreased by USD 1/t. Freight in this direction is 34-35 USD/t. Also, minimum rates to Tunisia have dropped by USD 1/t and reach USD 36-38/t.
Freight for the transportation of grain by “Panamax” from deep-sea ports to China decreased by 3-5 USD/t — to 60-63 USD/t. In the direction of Bangladesh, rates fell by 6-7 USD/t — to 57-60 USD/t.
Rates for the transportation of corn by barge to Constanta are 13-14 EUR/t. The rates for transporting sunflower seeds to the Bulgarian ports of Ruse/Silistra decreased by EUR 1/t — to EUR 18-19/t.
As stated by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, Ukraine exports 90% of agricultural products by sea.
Recently, USM wrote that in February, a record 8 million tons of cargo were exported through the maritime corridor.
