Most of Ukrainian exports go by sea
In general, during the past month, Ukraine exported 87% of all cargo by water transport.
Total waterborne exports in March were 6.1 million tons, compared to 6.4 million tons in February and 5.5 million tons in January. This is reported by Spike Brokers.
Black Sea exports amounted to 5 million tons in March. 1.1 million tons of cargo were sent through the Danube.
Sea and river freight rates decreased by 1-3 dollars per ton. So, rates for transportation by river transport from Izmail to Constanta are 13-18 euros, to Krems-on-Danube (Austria) and to Kelheim (Germany) – 40-42 euros.
Market rates for transportation by sea transport from Chornomorsk are:
• to Spain — 31-33 dollars (30-35 thousand tons);
• to the Eastern coast of Italy — 29-31 dollars (30-35 thousand tons);
• to Portugal — 33-35 dollars (30-35 thousand tons);
• in the direction of China — 62-65 dollars (60-65 thousand tons).
We will remind, as of the end of March, 33.8 million tons of goods were already exported through the maritime corridor.
