Direct losses to Ukraine’s agricultural sector reached $11.2 billion, World Bank says

Minister of Agrarian Policy Vitalii Koval took part in the presentation of the World Bank report on the losses and needs of Ukraine caused by the war.
According to estimates by World Bank experts, $524 billion is needed to restore Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.
According to World Bank estimates, direct losses to the agricultural sector amount to $11.2 billion, while $700 million is needed to restore irrigation systems and water resources.
The Minister of Agrarian Policy noted that the total losses of the agricultural sector, taking into account not only direct but also indirect losses, have already exceeded $80 billion.
“This amount includes the costs of restoring logistics, recultivation and demining of land, as well as the consequences of the increase in the price of fertilizers and fuel. The restoration of the agricultural sector must begin today,” Vitalii Koval emphasized.
According to him, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, together with international partners, is actively working on programs to support farmers, especially in frontline regions, where farms have suffered the greatest losses. As USM wrote the day before, since the beginning of the year, Ukraine has exported 86% of agricultural products through the ports of the Danube and Great Odesa.
