Andryuschenko denied Russian statements about expanding the port of Mariupol

Despite the statements, as well as the regular theft of Ukrainian grain and coal through the Mariupol port, the occupiers do not plan to expand it.

This was reported by the head of the Center for the Study of the Occupation, Petro Andryushchenko, on the air of Hromadske Radio.

“All these talks about expanding the port are exclusively nice words that are voiced on forums in order to get into the media field and become part of the discussion and never return to this in reality,” Andryushchenko noted.

He also emphasized that as of today, the Donbas control vessel is still sunk near the so-called new “gates” of the port, which interferes with normal navigation.

“The Mariupol port is an example of how they announce something that never happens later. Therefore, to say that they will expand something there if they have not managed to get this vessel from the bottom and open navigation in three years sounds ridiculous,” Petro Andryushchenko emphasized.

According to him, the Russians are using the port of Mariupol quite actively, compared to last year. On average, about five loaded ships leave the port of Mariupol in two weeks. The weight that they can export is at least 7-8 thousand tons.

“We see it every week: sea bulk carriers come in and out, export our subsoil. They can safely sail not only in the Sea of Azov, but also in the Black and Mediterranean Seas. They export mostly coal and kaolin,” the head of the Center for the Study of the Occupation emphasized.

Earlier, USM reported that the occupiers want to export up to 12 million tons of stolen resources from the port of Mariupol every year.
