Ukraine and Moldova will build a bridge across the Dniester, despite financial difficulties, – ambassador

Currently, Ukraine and Moldova are looking for financing options for the construction of the Yampil-Koseuts bridge.
This was stated by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova, Paun Rogovei, writes “Liga”.
According to him, the construction project has encountered financial difficulties, but they do not plan to stop it. Previously, the cost of the project was estimated at 3.4 billion UAH.
Now both sides are actively looking for new sources of financing.
The ambassador noted that the bridge is of strategic importance for both states, so he is confident in the implementation of the project.
“The main thing is that there is political will from both countries and mutual economic interest, so I am sure that this project will be implemented in the near future,” Rogovei commented.
We will recall that Ukraine and Moldova signed an agreement on the construction of a bridge across the Dnister in June 2023.
The Yampil bridge will become an alternative to the ferry crossing at the Yampil-Koseuts border crossing, which has not been operating for several years. It will also become a key link in the transport corridor between Kyiv and Chisinau.
In addition, thanks to the bridge, Ukrainian exporters will have the shortest route from the center of Ukraine to the countries of Central and Southeastern Europe, bypassing the Russian-occupied Transnistria.
The bridge will also allow unloading the international checkpoint “Mohyliv-Podilskyi – Otach”, through which almost the entire transport flow between Ukraine and Moldova passes.
Reference. The total length of the bridge is over 1400 meters. The artificial structure will have 2 lanes with sidewalks on both sides. The bridge crossing over the Dniester involves the construction of two approaches: 1.6 km from the Ukrainian side and 5 km from the Moldovan side. The bridge was to provide an exit to the Ukrainian road T-02–02 Mohyliv-Podilskyi – Yampil – Bershad – Uman and the Moldovan M-2.
