Britain prepares new sanctions against Russia’s “shadow fleet” over restrictions circumvention schemes

The UK plans to continue to renew and strengthen sanctions against Russia in order to block channels for their circumvention.
London is preparing new restrictions against the “shadow fleet” and schemes for supplying Russian oil to the British market through third countries. This was stated by British Trade Minister Chris Bryant, writes Sky News.
“Russia seeks to circumvent all our sanctions, and we must constantly renew and strengthen these measures. The pressure only needs to be increased as long as the war continues,” the official stressed.
He also noted that the sanctions have already significantly affected Russian trade. Almost 99.6% of imports from Russia to Britain have stopped. At the same time, London has already imposed sanctions against a Western company that insured Russian oil tankers, and has also added 530 vessels of the “shadow fleet” to the sanctions list, recently adding about 40 more tankers.
Also, the day before, Canada imposed sanctions against 100 Russian vessels and lowered the price ceiling for oil.
