Russian drones damaged Kernel terminal in the port of Chornomorsk: details

On the night of May 3, the Kernel terminal for transshipment of vegetable oil was damaged as a result of an attack by Russian UAVs.

The company’s press service reported on the consequences of the massive attack on the port infrastructure of Chornomorsk.

As a result of direct hits, oil storage tanks were destroyed and damaged.

“This caused a leak of more than 1,100 tons of products. The leak was quickly localized – the oil did not enter the sea, there is no threat to the environment,” Kernel noted.

The strike also caused a large-scale fire that engulfed part of the production facilities. It was quickly extinguished.

Fire and debris from the drones damaged equipment, office premises, and logistics infrastructure. In particular, four railway tanks were damaged.

Due to significant destruction, the company suspended the receipt and shipment of products.

As a result of the attack, one of the employees received moderate injuries from debris. He was provided with medical assistance, there is no threat to his life.

The company reported that work is ongoing to eliminate the consequences of the attack and assess the extent of damage to the infrastructure.

“Despite the temporary loss of the terminal’s operational capacity in Chornomorsk, the company ensures the fulfillment of export contracts and uninterrupted deliveries of products to customers. For this, Kernel uses partner port terminals in Odesa and on the Danube, as well as ground logistics, including rail transportation,” the company emphasized.

Recall that on the night of May 3, the Russian Federation once again carried out an attack on port infrastructure facilities in the Odesa region. As a result of the attack, a truck driver who was near the site of the attack outside the port died.
