A record oilseed harvest is predicted in the Black Sea-Danube region

Україна експортувала рекордні обсяги олії з початку війни

In the 2026/27 season, oilseed production in the Black Sea-Danube region may reach 71.5 million tons, which will be a new record.

In the 2026/27 MY, the area under oilseed crops in the Black Sea-Danube region may increase to about 35.2 million hectares, and production to 71.5 million tons. This is what analysts at UkrAgroConsult write.

Such a result may become a new record for the region. At the same time, the increase in production will create additional pressure on market margins.

“The dynamics of production reflects a gradual increase in oilseed volumes along with a change in their structure. The crop structure shows the dominance of sunflower and a correction in the share of other crops. Trade patterns demonstrate a change in export directions and increased competition between the main players,” the analysts explained.

The determining factors for the market are weather conditions, the development of processing and access to sales markets.

Sunflower remains the key crop. The Black Sea-Danube region accounts for about 72% of the world production of this crop. In other segments, the dynamics are different: the area under soybeans is decreasing, while rapeseed crops are gradually expanding under the influence of economic factors and regulatory policy.

At the same time, as USM reported, as of early May, the freight for the transportation of corn from Ukraine decreased.
