Directorate of Intelligence of the MoD identified 12 more “shadow fleet” tankers and over 200 captains

The update includes 10 tankers of the so-called “shadow fleet” under false flags, as well as two tankers of Greek shipping companies.

The updated data was published in the “Sea vessels” section of the War&Sanctions portal, the Defense Inteligence of the MoD reports.

The identified vessels and more than 200 captains of such vessels are involved in Russian maritime exports of oil and petroleum products, as well as the transportation of military cargo and the theft of products from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine in the interests of the Russian Federation.

The GUR noted that today’s update, in particular, includes ten tankers of the so-called shadow fleet under convenient and false flags, with an opaque ownership structure, as well as two tankers of Greek shipping companies.

“All of them are united by the transportation of oil and petroleum products in the interests of large Russian oil and gas companies – Surgutneftegaz, Rosneft, Novatek, Lukoil, etc. Such exports are the main source of replenishment of the Russian Federation’s military budget for waging war against Ukraine,” the report says.

All tankers published today and almost all of the published captains have already been sanctioned by Ukraine for illegal activities and work for the aggressor.

The Defense Intelligence also emphasized that in order to strengthen the countermeasure, it is necessary to synchronize such sanctions by partners, and, accordingly, a ban on such vessels entering ports, their maintenance, and a ban on entry for such captains to civilized countries.
