The State Statistics Service of Ukraine has identified over 2 million tons of unaccounted grain from the 2022-2024 harvest

The State Statistics Service of Ukraine has identified more than 2 million tons of unaccounted grain harvest for 2022-2024.

This is reported by Latifundist with reference to Forbes Ukraine.

Thus, the State Statistics Service reviewed the harvest data for previous years and identified additional volumes of grain and oilseed crops. Previously, they were not taken into account due to problems with collecting statistics during the war.

In 2025, Ukraine harvested 61 million tons of grain (+8% compared to 2024) and 18.5 million tons of oilseed crops (-13.5%). At the same time, when clarifying the data for 2022-2024, statistics showed a significant increase in yields compared to previous estimates.

In particular, for 2022 and 2023, an additional 0.9 million tons of grain were added each year, mainly corn. In total, 2.3 million tons of grain and oilseed crops were added over three years.

The main reason for the revision is the restoration of full-fledged reporting by businesses, especially in front-line regions. In 2022-2023, 150-180 thousand hectares of previously unaccounted areas were added to the statistics each year.

The largest additional harvest volumes were recorded in Poltava, Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions. These regions account for about 60% of the additional grain.

Corn dominates the structure of the added volumes – 1.6 million tons. Another 0.3 million tons are wheat and 0.2 million tons are sunflower. The total value of this crop in export prices is estimated at over $700 million.

The revised statistics will not affect the actual volumes of production or exports, but explain the discrepancies in market balances in recent years, in particular – regarding transitional stocks.

At the same time, the revision of data may affect macroeconomic indicators. It is estimated that the crop revision will add about 0.1 percentage points to the estimate of Ukraine’s real GDP during the war years.

USM previously reported that Israeli importers have offered Ukraine a mechanism for verifying grain from the occupied territories.
