USPA has begun operational dredging in the water area of the port of Izmail

The Delta-Pilot branch of the State Enterprise “USPA” has begun operational dredging work in the waters of the Izmail seaport.

This was reported by the USPA.

The work is being carried out in the operational area of the berths in areas where it is necessary to restore the design depths to ensure safe entry of vessels, cargo operations, and the possibility of using maximum drafts of vessels and ship batches.

The port of Izmail plays an important role in the work of the Ukrainian Danube cluster. Maintaining proper depths near the berths is a necessary condition for safe navigation, effective cargo handling, and stable operation of the port infrastructure, the USPA noted.

The fleet of the Delta-Pilot branch was involved in the work, in particular, the tugboat “Aidar”, the barge KSh-2, and the survey boat “Ivan Koval”. A floating grab crane, hired on a time charter, is also being used.

Throughout the dredging period, specialists will monitor the depths and the condition of the water area. The work is planned to be completed within two months.

Earlier, USM reported that the USPA signed a contract with a shipyard in Mykolaiv for the construction of pilot boats.
