More than 8,000 vessels have already used the Ukrainian maritime corridor since its launch.

This allowed Ukraine to return to pre-war export volumes for certain types of products, Dmytro Pletenchuk, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, told  Ukrinform.

“In fact, this corridor has been operating for more than 2.5 years, and more than 8,000 vessels have used it,” he commented.

Pletenchuk noted that ensuring the functioning of the grain corridor is one of the key achievements of the Ukrainian Navy.

“For Ukraine, sea exports are the main channel. Having an open sea corridor that is independent of land borders is about independence, the ability to conduct its own economic foreign policy,” the spokesman emphasized.

USM previously reported that more than 120 million tons of grain were transported through the Ukrainian sea corridor.
