The market for “handysizes” has almost disappeared: there are practically no orders for large vessels

There are almost no orders for “handysize” and larger vessels, while Danube costers are still finding cargo and continue to increase in price, albeit more slowly.

The overall picture of the Ukrainian freight market remains rather gloomy, ASAP Agri reports.

Attacks on vessels heading to the ports of Great Odesa continue. The number of cargo orders in “handysize” lots and above has decreased, and there are almost no ones willing to perform such voyages.

At the same time, the Danube coster market remains well-supplied with cargo offers, although most of them are not firm. Tonnage for Danube transportation can still be found, voyages are being performed, and freight rates continue to grow — albeit at a slower pace.

As of August 7, the Danube coster freight to Egypt was around $67/MT.

Also, the day before, USM wrote that NIBULON exported only 60 thousand tons of grain in July out of the planned 250 thousand tons.
