Transit of Ukrainian grain via Moldovan railways could reach 4.5 million tons per year, — Ukrzaliznytsia

Ukrzaliznytsia considers it realistic to increase the throughput capacity of the grain corridor through Moldova to 4.5 million tons per year and sees opportunities for further growth.

This was reported by the UZ press service in a comment to Interfax-Ukraine.

To increase transportation, it is necessary to increase the processing capacity of border stations, optimize control procedures, eliminate technological restrictions at crossings, and improve the organization of train traffic.

Ukrzaliznytsia noted that the implementation of these measures will allow for more stable use of the route in the event of increased demand.

At the same time, the company does not plan to further reduce internal tariffs due to risks to its financial condition.

Earlier, Ukraine agreed with Moldova on a 50% discount on transit railway transportation of Ukrainian cargo until the end of 2026.
