MTWTUU and Danish partners discussed the protection of the rights of Ukrainian seafarers and cooperation

The MTWTU held a working meeting with representatives of the Danish trade union Metal Maritime and the Danish Shipping Association.

This was reported by the Maritime Transport Workers Trade Union of Ukraine.

During the meeting, the head of the MTWTUU, Oleh Hryhoryuk, spoke about the key areas of the trade union’s activity to protect the interests of Ukrainian seafarers.

In particular, the topic was the organization of the Unified State Qualification Examination abroad in 2025 and 2026, as well as the possibilities of professional training, participation in training and certification of seafarers.

Among other issues, there was legal assistance to seafarers within the framework of the MTWTU LAW HUB project, the implementation of social campaigns and support for MTWTU members both in Ukraine and abroad.

A separate block of discussion concerned the terms of the collective agreement between the MTWTU and Danish Shipping and the practical aspects of its implementation. The parties also considered further steps to implement the joint recommendations developed in 2025.

“They provide for compensation for the costs of Ukrainian seafarers for the issuance of a seafarer’s passport at the State Enterprise “Dokument” in Warsaw for those working on ships under the Danish flag,” the trade union noted.

Recall that in 2023, the PRMTU and Danish Shipping signed a collective agreement, which was later updated in October 2025. It is valid until December 31, 2027.
