Oleksandr Kubrakov commented on the new composition of the IMO Council
Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov noted that Russia did not get into the new IMO Council for 2024-2025.
“It is very important that the international community supported the call of Ukraine – Russia has no place in the governing bodies of international organizations. Therefore, the Council will work without an aggressor state, and its influence on the formation of international maritime policy will be minimized,” the minister noted.
According to Kubrakov, the IMO’s decision underscores “recognition of the detrimental effects of Russian aggression on global shipping and food supply chains.”
“This is an important and responsible step on the way to defeating the aggressor. We are grateful to the IMO and all members of the Organization for their support of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. There is still a lot of joint work ahead and new solutions needed by the world,” Kubrakov summarized.
