Polish farmers prepare mass protest in Warsaw over imports from Ukraine and EU policy

Polish farmers have announced a large-scale rally in Warsaw. Farmers will protest against imports from Ukraine and the policies of the European Commission.

21 agricultural associations will take part in the demonstration on January 3, Farmer.pl reports.

The action will start in front of the European Commission representation, and then the farmers will move to the National Theater, where celebrations will be held on the occasion of the beginning of Poland’s presidency of the Council of the EU.

The leader of the Solidarity association, Tomasz Obszański, said that the demonstrators intend to “greet” the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, with dignity. He accused her of imposing a policy that allegedly “forces Polish farms to close.”

The slogan of the protest “5 x stops” refers to the import of agricultural products from Ukraine, the Mercosur union, the “Green Deal”, as well as the destruction of Polish forests and the EU’s economic policy.

USM previously reported that a free trade agreement between the EU and the Mercosur association, which includes a number of South American countries, could be blocked.
