Sanctioned ships Sparta and Sparta II are heading from Syria back to Russia

The monitoring group recorded the movement of Russian military vessels transporting equipment from bases in Syria back to Russia.

The Russian military transport vessels Sparta and Sparta II have approached the exit from the Mediterranean Sea, passing through the Strait of Sicily. This is reported by “Crimean Wind”.

According to observers, the Russians are taking military equipment out of Syria, in particular the S-300/S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems. It will probably be delivered to the Russian Federation, where it can be used to continue the war against Ukraine.

It is noteworthy that the vessels did not enter Libya, as previously assumed. This indicates the failure of Russia’s attempts to gain a foothold in this country by creating military bases.

On the published map, you can see the route and dates of the Russian military convoy’s passage through the Mediterranean Sea.

As previously reported by USM, the new Syrian authorities have terminated the 49-year-old agreement with Russia regarding the port of Tartus. Now the Russians are hastily removing military equipment from what was once the only naval base in the Mediterranean.
