The queue of wagons heading to ports is decreasing despite the growth of rail exports

The flow of goods towards seaports is weakening, despite the positive dynamics of rail exports in general.

The number of grain wagons moving to the ports of Great Odesa decreased by 1,167 units per week – despite the overall growth in rail exports of agricultural products. This is reported by Spike Brokers.

As of May 28, the ports of Great Odesa processed 1,285 wagons per day. 7,313 wagons with grain are moving towards this cluster, which is 1,167 less compared to the previous week. The average daily load of the network towards the ports is 1,263 wagons per day (-42 wagons per week).

Although unloading at the ports of Greater Odessa has almost not changed, the number of wagons in motion is significantly lower. Among the largest port recipients of grain for 26 days of May, Chornomorsk-Port-Export — 758.6 thousand tons (-4.6% m/m) and TIS — 554.1 thousand tons (-4.0% m/m). Odesa-Port stands out from the general trend — 538.9 thousand tons, which is 13% higher than in April.

At the same time, the total railway volume of grain cargo for 26 days of May amounted to 2.605 million tons (+0.6% m/m), and the average daily load increased to 90.4 thousand tons — 20.7 thousand tons more than a year ago.

Meanwhile, cargo flow through the Danube may decrease to 5 million tons in 2026.
