A bulk carrier with 25,000 tons of humanitarian wheat left for the Ukrainian grain corridor.

The bulk carrier Sky Gate with 25,000 tons of Ukrainian wheat left one of the ports of Great Odesa. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Reconstruction of Ukraine.

This is the first ship this year with humanitarian wheat, chartered by the World Food Program of the United Nations as part of the Grain From Ukraine initiative. The cargo went to Nigeria.

We will remind you that the Grain From Ukraine program was initiated in November 2022. It is implemented jointly with the UN World Food Program and donor countries. The goal of the initiative is to provide access to Ukrainian food to countries suffering from hunger.

Since the beginning of the program, 170,000 tons of humanitarian wheat have been sent to Ethiopia, Yemen, Somalia, Kenya and Afghanistan.

At the beginning of this year, Qatar joined the Grain from Ukraine initiative. The country contributed $20 million to the humanitarian food program.

Recently, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced his intention to discuss with Russian dictator Putin a new mechanism for the export of Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea.
