Two Island-class boats have already left for Ukraine from the USA

Island-class patrol boats Sumy and Fastov set off for Odesa from Baltimore (USA).

These boats are part of the US assistance to Ukraine. Their task is to strengthen the maritime security of our country and increase the interoperability of the Ukrainian Navy with NATO. This was reported by the press service of the US Embassy in Ukraine.

According to Dumskaya, the boats were sent to Odesa on the freighter Ocean Grand. The ship departed from the port of Baltimore on Saturday November 6th.

At the moment, Ukraine has already accepted into the operating strength of the Navy the boats Starobelsk and Slavyansk. And the boats Sumy and Fastov were supposed to arrive in Ukraine in May this year, but their dispatch was delayed.

In total, the Ukrainian Navy should include five Island-class boats. As previously reported by USM, the fifth Island-class patrol boat will bear the name of the Marine and Hero of Ukraine Vyacheslav Kubrak.
