UK imposes new sanctions against Russian tankers
Another 20 vessels of the so-called Russian “shadow” fleet have been added to the UK’s sanctions list.
This was announced by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, according to the government’s website.
In addition to emergency aid for Ukraine of more than $44 million, the UK has also imposed new sanctions against Russia’s energy sector. These include restrictions on energy companies such as 2Rivers DMCC and 2Rivers PTE LTD.
In particular, the oil tankers Ocean Faye, Andaman Skies and Mianzimu have been added to the sanctions list. Each of them transported more than 4 million barrels of Russian oil in 2024.
The British government noted that the UK, Denmark, Sweden, Poland, Finland and Estonia have also agreed on a new partnership to counter suspected shadow ships along the Baltic route.
Recall that at the end of November, Britain also imposed sanctions against 30 shadow Russian tankers.
