Ukraine remains the main exporter of grain
Ukraine is a leading supplier of food to the world, providing food for more than 400 million people.
Ukraine, despite large-scale aggression by Russia, remains one of the world’s leading exporters of grain. This was stated by the special envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belgium for Ukraine, Jan de Pav, Ukrinform writes .
At the same time, supporting Ukraine’s efforts to export agricultural products and strengthen its economy is in the interests of the whole world.
“Ukraine is one of the leading exporters of grain and food products, and thus a guarantor of global food security. When its exports are limited or made impossible, as it was at the beginning of the full-scale invasion and continues to this day, it is necessary to support Ukraine in maintaining these efforts,” Jan de Pav emphasized.
However, one of the reasons for the destabilization of the situation is the negative reaction of border countries to the import of Ukrainian grain and agricultural products. This challenge must be worked on carefully to allow the continued flow of agricultural goods to and through Europe.
The regional director of the UN World Food Program, Corinne Fleischer, reminded that Ukraine is one of the largest sources of food for the world, providing food for more than 400 million people.
“The World Food Program delivered 725,000 metric tons of food to the Horn of Africa, Afghanistan, Yemen and other countries through the Black Sea Grain Initiative. Now we continue to export products from Ukraine to Gaza, to various countries,” said Corinne Fleisher.
In total, the donors of the program have already provided 200 million dollars for the implementation of supplies from Ukraine to the countries most in need of assistance.
