Ukrainian corn is transshipped in a German port
Ukrainian corn is transshipped in the German port of Duisburg. Cargo handling is handled by Rhenus Port Logistics Rhein-Ruhr.
Rhenus Port Logistics Rhein-Ruhr provided a port terminal and special equipment for grain cargoes from Ukraine at terminal 4 of the port of Duisburg, the company reported.
Previously, corn was transported to its destination through the port of Odesa. Now there is also a railway route through Ukraine, Poland and Germany. Upon arrival in Duisburg, the corn is transshipped directly from containers to inland vessels.
In the Ukrainian border town of Mostyska, cargo is transferred from grain wagons into standard EU containers for general cargo. For example, at the Polish-Ukrainian border, cargo is blocked with special GPS tracking seals, which are then removed at the German-Polish border.
According to the managing director of Rhenus Port, Michael Petersmann, during the creation of the project, not only the situation on the grain market was taken into account, but also the war in Ukraine, as well as restrictions on the transit and import of grain in Europe.
USM previously reported that in the summer Ukrzaliznytsia and Duisburger Hafen Aktiengesellschaft plan to launch regular container and trailer trains between Ukraine and the port of Duisburg.
