Ukrzaliznytsia increased the volume of cargo transportation in September
JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” transported 12 million tons of cargo in September, which is 3% more than a year earlier.
“Ukrzaliznytsia, according to operational data, transported 12.035 million tons of cargo in September 2023 in all types of connections, which is 3% more than in the same period of 2022,” the company’s press service said in a statement.
It is emphasized that the overall increase in the volume of transportation occurred due to the growth in domestic traffic by 35.5% — up to 7.9 million tons.
Construction materials lead the way in the volume of transportation: in the total volume of their transportation, in September 2023, their transportation increased by 77.3% compared to September 2022 – to 3.3 million tons, in domestic traffic – by 88%, to 3.1 million tons.
At the same time, export transportation by rail in September 2023 decreased by 31.2% compared to September 2022 — to 3.6 million tons. In particular, the export of grain cargoes by rail decreased by almost three times — to 1.1 million tons. At the same time, last month an increase in export shipments of iron and manganese ore by 50.5% was recorded – up to 1.5 million tons.
Import transportation of goods by railway in September of this year amounted to 518.5 thousand tons, which is 18% less than in September 2022, transit – 43.2 thousand tons, which is almost 2.3 times more.
