British intelligence suggests the Russians mistargeted a missile that hit a civilian vessel in Odesa, killing the Ukrainian pilot and injuring the crew.
The X-31 missile, which the Russians fired at a civilian ship in Odesa region, was probably aimed at Ukrainian military radars in the area, according to British intelligence.
According to this version, the Russians confused the radar on a civilian ship with the radar.
If this is true, then the situation indicates an unsuccessful tactic of using weapons on the part of the Russian pilot, the agency noted.
It will be recalled that on November 8, a Russian missile hit a civilian cargo ship under the flag of Liberia, which was moored in the port of Pivdennyi.
As a result of the attack, the Ukrainian pilot was killed, and three crew members and a port worker were also injured.
