France releases Russian “shadow fleet” tanker

France has released the previously detained tanker “Deyna” of the Russian “shadow fleet” after paying a fine.
This was reported by Maritima Médias.
The tanker “Deyna” was detained on March 20 in the Mediterranean Sea. The vessel was sailing from Murmansk, Russia, and, according to the French side, may belong to the so-called shadow fleet of the Russian Federation.
The operation was carried out on the basis of Article 110 of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea – due to suspicion of using a false flag.
On March 23, a court in Marseille ordered the ship-owning company to pay a fine. The company transferred the funds to the accounts of the Agency for the Management and Recovery of Seized and Confiscated Assets (AGRASC), and also promised to receive a new flag as soon as possible.
The vessel has already left French territorial waters.
Earlier, USM reported that Sweden had released the vessel detained on its way from Russia for an environmental crime.
