Moldova will not limit the import of agricultural products from Ukraine
The Republic of Moldova currently does not intend to introduce restrictions on the import of grain and oil crops from Ukraine.
“The introduction of import restrictions would not solve anything. This would not lead to an increase in selling prices for Moldova farmers, nor to a decrease in the cost price. This decision would give zero results,” said the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Moldova Volodymyr Bolya, writes Ukrinform .
According to him, on the contrary, Ukraine would introduce restrictions on the import of Moldovan products, “and then a lot would be lost.” The minister said that the volume of import of agricultural products from Ukraine is insignificant: in total, about 177 tons of wheat and 4 thousand tons of sunflower seeds were imported.
Volodymyr Bolya also commented on the possible ban on the transit of grain from Ukraine through Moldova. He noted that the authorities of Chisinau are not considering such a step.
“Transit does not affect us negatively. “Zaliznytsia Moldova” was able to rehabilitate thanks to the transit, the company paid the salary and even increased it,” the government official explained.
However, according to him, the problem arises with road freight transportation, as queues are created at the customs in the direction of Romania.
