Ukraine terminated the agreement on merchant shipping with Syria

The Verkhovna Rada adopted in general the draft law on the termination of the agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers and the government of Syria on merchant shipping.
264 People’s Deputies of Ukraine voted for the adoption of project No. 0191, Taras Melnychuk, permanent representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada, reported on Telegram.
The law provides for the termination of the bilateral Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers and the Government of the Syrian Arab Republic on merchant shipping.
The Council also stopped trade, economic and technical cooperation with Syria.
The Law of Ukraine “On the termination of the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Syrian Arab Republic on trade, economic and technical cooperation” is aimed at protecting the national interests of Ukraine, in connection with the breakdown of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the SAR.
Syria supports the military and political leadership of russian federation regarding the military invasion of the territory of Ukraine, and also recognizes the “independence” of the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
In addition, russia regularly sends grainstolen in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine from Crimea to Syria.
We will remind you that in April, the Minister of Economy Yuliya Svyridenko announced the introduction of sanctions against Syria. The reason for this was the transportation of stolen Ukrainian grain by Syrian ships.
