The EU commented on the Russian attacks on ships with grain in Odesa

The European Union has spoken out about the recent Russian missile attacks on civilian ships in the ports of Odesa.

The EU called on interested countries to put pressure on Moscow to stop these actions. This was stated by EU spokesman Peter Stano, reports “European Pravda”.

He listed the ships that Russia had attacked in recent days: those under the flags of Panama, Palau and St. Kitts and Nevis. Last month, Russia attacked a ship carrying grain for Egypt, and previously a ship from Turkey.

“These are all countries that Putin calls friendly,” the spokesman for the European Union noted.

According to him, these attacks are taking place in addition to the fact that Russia continues to destroy grain warehouses and port infrastructure in Ukraine, as well as steal Ukrainian grain from the occupied territories.

“All these actions are a flagrant violation of international law and must be stopped immediately. This proves that Russia is determined to continue making food its weapon, putting at risk millions of people not in Ukraine or Europe — but vulnerable people in Asia and Africa,” Stano emphasized.

He added that all these strikes are “Putin’s answer to those who say that peace with Putin is possible.”

According to Peter Stano, the EU calls on all countries of the world to condemn Russian attacks on freedom of navigation and global food security. The EU also calls on countries to address Russia and put pressure on it to immediately stop these attacks and illegal aggression against Ukraine.

Previously, USM reported that over the past three months, Russian forces have carried out almost 60 attacks on the port infrastructure of Ukraine.
