Ukraine and Great Britain will fight against the theft of Ukrainian grain
Ukraine and Great Britain will work together to track stolen grain from the occupied territories of Ukraine.
First Deputy Minister of Agricultural Policy of Ukraine Taras Vysotskyi met with Mark Spencer, Minister of State at the Ministry of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs of Great Britain.
In addition to monitoring the theft of grain, the parties also discussed the possibility of monitoring the quality of soils that were flooded after the destruction of the dam of the Kakhovsky Reservoir. Great Britain also plans to help in soil testing in demined areas.
As the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, Mark Spencer expressed his support for Ukrainian farmers and the people of Ukraine.
Previously, Mark Spencer already proposed to identify stolen Ukrainian grain using chemical identification. It is also worth noting that Great Britain regularly approves sanctions against the Russian Federation aimed at “suspicious persons and organizations” that may be related to the theft of Ukrainian grain.
For example, in May 2023 Great Britain applied sanctions against 24 organizations and individuals involved in grain theft. Among them are Powell Shipping Co LLP and the State Grain Corporation (GZK) and its director Nikita Busel.
